Cast and Crew

The cast for season 1 of “She Wrote Plays” included more than 18 actors from in and around Central Virginia.

Several of the actors were also involved in WTJU and UVA Drama’s past collaboration The Perfectly Circular Rock.

    Angel Lin

    Angel is a graduate of the University of Virginia, where she studied English and Drama.


    She Writes Plays was her first dabble in the audio-acting realm. She is grateful to have shared that experience with Doug, Lewis, and her jovial cast and hopes that the audience will savor each play with belly-laughs galore. Currently, she is a Boston-based copy-editor and playwright (and is bracing herself for Boston winters).

    Robert Wray

    Robert Wray has performed in film, television, theatre around the world, and now he can check podcast off his list. He's happy to have been a part of this—thank you Doug and all involved!

    Abby Pasquinelli

    My interest in acting sparked as a freshman in high school, where I participated in my school's stage productions of Clue and Footloose! Since then, I have committed myself to learning as much as possible about film acting and production.

    After taking many acting classes in Richmond, starring in multiple short films and commercials in the area, and participating in UVA's Overcranked film festival, I can confidently say that my love for this art has only continued to grow! I had a blast working with Doug and my fellow cast members in the studio when recording for this project, and I am thrilled to share it with others.

    Julia Robertson

    Julia Robertson (she/her) loves playing with accents. Born in Scotland, Julia has attended short-courses at RADA, LAMDA and Royal Conservatoire Scotland. For voice work, she adores Linklater classes, whilst Julia also sings soprano with Virginia Consort's Festival Chorus and at the Wintergreen Music Festival.

    A former advertising executive, Julia's recent theatre productions include 9 to 5, Murder on the Orient Express, Dial M for Murder and Pride and Prejudice at The Wayne.

    Maya Berry

    Maya Berry is a third-year Drama and Media Studies major at U.V.A. While studying full time at UVA, she was accepted into The Juilliard School's summer 2024 program, where she focused on physical acting and movement.

    She plans to continue her studies at U.V.A. by auditioning for school productions, creating her own short film, and engaging with all UVA Arts has to offer!

    Regan Borucke

    Regan is an actress, writer, and filmmaker from Tampa, FL. She graduated from UVa with a degree in English and a minor in Drama in 2023 and was also a part of the Miller Arts Scholars Program. Currently, she is earning her MFA in Writing for Screen and Television at USC’s School of Cinematic Art in Los Angeles, CA.

    She was last seen on stage in UVa Drama’s  Sense and Sensibility. Other recent roles include Helena in A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Syracuse Shakespeare in the Park),  Apemantus in Timon of Athens  (NYU Tisch’s Shakespeare in Performance program at RADA), and Lily/Lilith in She Kills Monsters (UVa Drama). She would like to thank her mentor, director Doug Grissom, for always supporting women writers.

    Sean Miller

    Sean studied Math and Computer Science at UVA, but spent most of his time in the theater as a Drama minor! He has appeared in a number of UVA shows, including playing Everybody in Everybody, Sir Andrew in Twelfth Night, Robert Ferrars in Sense and Sensibility, Shep in16 Winters, and Duke Vincentio in Measure for Measure.

    He currently teaches Physics and Chemistry at Episcopal High School, where he also assists in their Winter Musical.

    Lilla Woodard

    Lilla Woodard is a Hungarian-American actor and playwright currently living in Arlington, Virginia. She grew up overseas in Bahrain, Lithuania, India, Switzerland, Germany, and Brunei, performing in theater productions across four different continents. In Arlington, she had the honor of working with Signature Theater on their flagship high school education program Signature in the Schools, and she received the Andrew A. Isen Young Artist Gift for her dedication and contribution to the program.

    Since coming to UVA, Lilla has performed in a range of productions across grounds, including the 2023 UVA Drama mainstage show, Everybody. She has a passion for experimental film and theater, and her dream is to use theater to bring people closer together across borders, facilitating cultural exchanges and highlighting marginalized groups.

    Alex Davis

    Alex Davis teaches Performing Arts at Free Union Country School, a private progressive elementary school in Albemarle County. He also acts regularly with the Hamner Theater and other local groups. Alex plays Irish traditional music on fiddle and concertina and teaches with the Blue Ridge Irish Music School.

    He is a co-host of WTJU's Atlantic Weekly Part II which broadcasts every Saturday from 10AM-12PM.

    Elizabeth Rose

    Elizabeth studied at the Atlantic Acting School and was a performing member of two New York City theater companies before relocating to Virginia. Recent local credits include Ella in Life Sucks., the Reporter in Accidental Death of an Anarchist (both at Live Arts) and multiple characters in Motherhood Out Loud  (Four County Players). Elizabeth has also performed at Upright Citizen's Brigade and appeared in several student films.

    Sean Michael McCord

    Sean Michael McCord is a theater maker living in Charlottesville, Virginia. He received his MFA in Playwriting from the Playwrights Lab at Hollins University in Roanoke, VA, and has had plays produced in Virginia, Kentucky, Colorado, California, and Stuttgart, Germany, which makes him an internationally unknown playwright. He has been an invited Playwright Observer at the O'Neill Center National Playwrights Conference and is a proud member of the Dramatists Guild and the New Play Exchange.

    In addition to his own writing, Sean helps produce new works through the Charlottesville Playwrights Collective at CVillePlays.org.

    Katherine Haines

    Katherine Haines is a rising fourth-year undergraduate student at the University of Virginia, pursuing double majors in Archaeology and Biology and a minor in Drama. Previous collegiate acting credits include: The Green Bird, Everybody, Twelfth Night the Musical, 16 Winters or the Bear's Tale (UVA Drama); Crosswalk (UVA Overcranked!); and A Midsummer Night's Dream, Measure for Measure (Shakespeare on the Lawn). She is beyond grateful to have had the opportunity to be a part of three different, fantastic casts for She Writes Plays!

    Cady Garey

    Cady is a faculty member of the UVA Department of Drama, where she teaches Acting and Speaking in Public. She was last seen on stage in Heritage Theatre Festival's production of Harvey and heard as a frequent voice on the podcast BackStory.

    Evelyn Garey

    Evelyn is an actor and recent graduate of the UVA Drama Department (2023). Recent performance credits include 24/7 Fundraiser (Whole Theatre/Jefferson School); Miss Bennet: Christmas at Pemberley (Live Arts '23); The UVA New Works Festival; Sense & Sensibility; When the Rain Stops Falling; Love & Information (UVA Drama) and several local film projects. She is delighted to return to voice work, WTJU, and wonderful world of podcasts after appearing in The Perfectly Circular Rock in 2019.

    Mark McLane

    Mark is a Charlottesville based actor with numerous local and regional credits, including The Curious Incident of the Dog In The Night-Time, The Liar, and Peter and The Starcatcher at Live Arts Thetre and at the Hamner Theater in Three Sisters. He lives in Charlottesville with his wife and two children.

    James Scales

    James most recently appeared onstage in Follies at Live Arts. His other acting credits include: Harvey, Middletown, The Odd Couple, Annie Get Your Gun, 1776, My Fair Lady, 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, The Sound of Music, On Golden Pond, Sunday in the Park with George, Gypsy, Carousel, West Side Story, You Can’t Take It with You, The Sunshine Boys, Sweeney Todd (Heritage Theatre Festival); Tartuffe, Urinetown, The Arctic Circle (and a Recipe for Swedish Pancakes), Our Town, Wonderful Town, Parade, The Beaux’ Stratagem, The Pajama Game, Measure For Measure, The Skin of Our Teeth, A Streetcar Named Desire, Into the Woods (UVA Drama); Life Insurance (Barhoppers 2003 & 2008, Offstage Theatre). James performs historical voice work for the podcast BackStory.

    James is currently the host for WTJU's only musical-focused program, On With the Show, every Friday 6-8pm.

    Kate Monaghan

    Kate is an actor and playwright who has been active in the Charlottesville theater community since 2009. She has been privileged to act in several local venues, including: Heritage Theatre Festival: (Steel Magnolias: Ouiser), Shear Madness (Mrs. Shubert). Local/University: Follies (Hattie Walker), The Book of Will (Emilia Bassano/Anne Hathaway), The Lion In Winter (Eleanor), Blithe Spirit (Madame Arcati), August: Osage County (Violet Weston). Film: Machinery of Dreams (Beth), More and Less (Ada).

    Her plays include THE O’MALLEY GAMBIT, RESOLUTIONS (book and lyrics) and EMBERS. She has studied playwriting as a Community Scholar at UVA, and is a founding member of the Charlottesville Playwrights Collective.

    Cecilia Huang

    Cecilia (Drama 24') was a devoted theatre kid during her time at UVA. She is forever thankful for the life-changing education she received in the drama department, both inside and outside of class, which provided her with an immensely unique critical view of solving problems and appreciating the world. Cecilia constantly thinks of the scripts she set a goal to finish (fingers crossed), her beloved friends and mentors at UVA, along with the eternal sunshine on the Lawn that is ingrained in her memory. This is Cecilia’s last project at UVA as an actor.

    Hi I’m Georgina Stewart! I’m a second-year student at UVA and planning to major in Drama. This was my first project at UVA and my first time doing a podcast. I had a lot of fun and enjoyed doing something new!

    Danait Haddish

    Danait recently graduated from the University of Virginia as an interdisciplinary Major in Arts Administration, Global Development, and Drama. She is grateful to have been a part of this amazing project by Doug and Lewis, with a script adapted by the lovely Mary, and a wonderful cast. Danait now works as a fellow at Arena Stage in D.C.

    Mary Hall

    Mary Logan Hall is an actor/playwright based in Richmond and Charlottesville, VA. At the time of release, she is a 4th year pursuing her B.A. in Drama and African American and African Studies at The University of Virginia.

    Recent playwriting credits include The Waiting Room (Passage, Virginia Players Lab Series) and Running Out of Time (UVA’s 2024 New Works Festival).  Recent acting credits include Ensemble/Puppeteer in Little Shop of Horrors (Virginia Theatre Festival), Aurora in Raphael’s Islands (UVA Drama and DALA CompaNY) Somebody in Everybody (UVA Drama), and Diana Morales in A Chorus Line (Spectrum Theatre). 

    She is beyond grateful to have had the opportunity to adapt, direct, and act for She Wrote Plays!

    Nathan Moore is the General Manager of WTJU Radio and Executive Producer of Virginia Audio Collective.

    Grissom is an Associate Professor in the Department of Drama at the University of Virginia, where he teaches playwriting and screenwriting.  This is the second podcast he’s made in collaboration with WTJU, the first being A Perfectly Circular Rock.

    Agnes Redvil is a graduate of the University of Virginia (CO '24). With a Bachelor's in English and a passion for creative writing and editing, she drafted the adaptation of May Miller's 1930 play Stragglers in the Dust.
